Delightful and edible homemade face masks!

Some people think I’m crazy for putting food all over my face. I’m not afraid to get a little messy from time to time, and this is why I am writing this entry! There are certain foods that you can use to help with breakouts, to brighten your complexion, control oil, help with dryness, etc!

Tonight I put together one of my favourite face masks with simple ingredients from my kitchen, and I wanted to share my experience with you. For the mask I used fresh avocado, fresh lemon juice, and organic honey. Why these ingredients?

  • Avocado is a fruit that is high in healthy fats and oil that are highly beneficial for skin. Some uses include helping to relieve dryness, itching, to help soften and moisturize skin.
  • Lemon juice contains vitamin C, is a natural exfoliant, helps to brighten skin and can help clear blemishes.
  • Honey can treat minor skin irritations, help seal in moisture, and help protect against the sun’s rays!

delicious fruity goodness (honey’s totally a fruit, yes?)

So grab these three ingredients, and a small-ish dessert bowl.

Mix in 1/8 of the flesh of an avocado with 3/4 a teaspoon of the honey. These amounts don’t have to be perfect!

Mash that sucka up! Use a fork, or whatever works best.

Add a spritz / about 10 drops of lemon juice, and mix it all up!

a pretty, albeit insane face

Wash your lovely face with warm water and your favourite cleanser (if you have extra time, feel free to steam your face with your favourite essential oils – this will help open pores)

Swamp Monster says hello!

The above photo is an example of what will happen when you don’t mash your avocados to near perfection. If you massage the mixture into your face in a circular motion, it will make sure the avocado gets where it needs to be. And if you prefer to temporarily look like a swamp monster with acne problems, feel free to mash juuust a little bit.

The mask should remain on your face for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

While you wait, why not have a taste?

And maybe practice that swamp monster role a little bit. I definitely need some tips on how to look threatening.

When you’re ready, wash this deliciousness off with warm water and a cloth, if necessary!

Hello World!

Voila! What emerges is a soft, moisturized, glowing complexion. Sure, the lighting helps a little. Add a little moisturizer to finish off your routine, and you’re done!
